Talks on Iran Nuclear Deal
French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, pointed out a tactical problem and an internal issue in Iran for holding up the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal. In a tweet, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, blamed the West's “deceptive strategy” for holding up any revival of nuclear talks.
Palestine: 1st Batch of Shots
The Palestinian Authority on Wednesday received its first batch of COVAX-supplied vaccines. 38,000 doses of the Pfizer shot would be administered as of Sunday, while 24,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine would be stored until a further scientific decision is issued.
"Worst Famine in Decades"
The United Nations humanitarian office said on Tuesday, aid agencies have so far received only $374 million out of the $3.85 billion needed this year for Yemen to avert what threatens to become the worst famine in the world in decades.
Algeria Earthquake
A shallow 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Algerian coast on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said. The quake hit 20 kilometers north-east of the city of Bejaia at a depth of 10 kilometers. In the aftermath, two further quakes of 5.2 and 4.7 magnitude followed respectively.
